Fire Destroys House in Town of Parkland

Fire destroyed a house in the Town of Parkland this afternoon.

The fire was reported to Douglas County 911 at 11:19am by a neighbor who saw flames coming out of the house at 6811e CTH UU.  When deputies arrived 12 min after the initial call the house was fully engulfed.

Volunteer firefighters from several area townships including Parkland, Amnicon, Lakeside, Maple, Oakland, and the Village of Poplar responded to fight the fire.

Nobody was home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.  The home owner is listed as Michael Welch, and the occupant was reported as Lewis Welch.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation but appears to have started on the end of the house where a wood burning stove was located.

The structure was a total loss.
