Search Warrant Leads to Suicide
On Friday July 18, deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office arrived at a house in the Village of Oliver at about 6:05pm to conduct a search warrant connected to an ongoing investigation.
After getting no response at the door, deputies announced and entered the residence and began clearing the house. A subject was located in a darkened downstairs bedroom lying on a bed with a pillow covering his head. Deputies ordered the subject to show his hands. A shot was fired and deputies retreated to a position of cover. When back-up officers and equipment arrived to safely re-enter the room, deputies discovered the subject deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The subject was identified as the 53 year old male homeowner and subject of the underlying investigation/search warrant.
No further information will be released at this time.
